Student & Children Privacy Policy

Baobabooks prioritizes the privacy of its students and have committed to support and comply with, and has signed, the Student Privacy Pledge. The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) introduced a Student Privacy Pledge to safeguard student privacy regarding the collection, maintenance, and use of student personal information. The commitments are intended to concisely detail existing U.S. federal law and regulatory guidance regarding the collection and handling of student data, and to encourage service providers to more clearly articulate these practices.

Baobabooks does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without prior consent of their parent or legal guardian. We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection (COPPA) which imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.

Additionally, Baobabooks is compliant with the mandates of European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules. The importance of protecting children is mentioned several times in the GDPR. Parental consent, notices and other miscellaneous provisions related to helplines, codes of conduct and work for supervisory authorities.
